ABOUT the program

Explorations in the Arts offers students an immersive introduction to New York City's vibrant arts scene. Together and independently, students engage with a diverse range of cultural expressions by visiting museums, galleries and public art installations, attending theater, film, improv comedy, dance, music performances and more.

Classroom discussions focus on developing the skills necessary to describe, engage with, critique and inquire about these cultural experiences. As an integral part of the course, students must regularly participate in artistic events around New York City. Some daytime events will take place instead of regular class meetings, and students should plan to attend evening events on the same day that their class section meets (and not schedule evening classes during this time). Costs of admission to the events will be covered by the College.
